Description

For Mikuni TMX27 & 30, Dell'orto PHB 28 & 30

Reed valve manifold for all Lambretta 125-225 standard, Mugello and Rapido cylinders.

Piston ported Lambrettas have a big draw back. They don't have much low end torque and therefore need high revs to start and a lot of shifting. The reed valve increases low end torque so the usable power band becomes wider. The engine therefore has more elasticity (rubber band effect)

Another advantage of the reed valve is the reduction of spit back. The reed valve closes as soon as pressure builds up in the crankcase so the mixture stays in the cylinder. This makes jetting much easier. When installing this reed valve manifold on scooter with an already well set up carb you need to re-jet towards a leaner set up.

All this leads to better mileage: On our test bike, a Rapido 225 with 16 hp, we increased the mileage from 35mpg to 72mpg. All with a PHB28mm carb, which is infamous for its fuel thirst. The engine now accelerates smoothly from 30 mph in 4th gear without any hiccups.

The manifold is designed to house a Stage6 R/T Viton reed valve for Minarelli and is suitable up to 28mm carbs.

It is designed in such way as to allow for either a 28 or 30mm Dell'orto PHB or VHST carb fitted with the air hose of the GP200 to be operated under the side panel (no holes needed).

We recommend to replace the carbon fiber reeds with the Stage6 glass fibre reeds that are available for this reed valve as these are softer and therefore more suitable for the low revs level of our Lambrettas.

Matching connection rubbers: 102266, 101707, 100771 (the last one can only be made to fit with an extra gasket or lots of sealing compound)

The reed valve is not primarily designed to increase maximum performance, however now you have the option to shorten the piston skirt or drill holes in it without having to cope with the disadvantages of a revvy engine. This way power can be maximized without loosing low end torque. Also a boost port can be machined into the barrel to further increase power

Connection size of the rubber is 35mm.

The intake hole of some barrels need to be adjusted to match the manifold. But there is enough gasket face available on the manifold to allow for this adjustments.

V2: New reed valve which produces 1-2 hp more than the V-Force one!
